troops are coming home, a nation’s party

This blog comes from a politics junkie who has become very tired of political backstabbing and innuendo. Important legislation is before our leaders and we as a people, are constantly bombarded by unnecessary divisiveness and polarization of issues that will make tremendous difference in all our lives.

Left or right, conservative or liberal, democrat or republican, even independents, have all gotten their panties in an uproar over one bill or another in this tumultuous political season. It has gotten to the point of ridiculous divide. I’m beginning to miss the feeling of being a U.S. citizen.

Does anyone remember what U.S. stands for? Does it mean the rich have it all and the poor have nothing forever? Perhaps you believe negotiation is a big waste of time?   Maybe its “my way or the highway”? Well, no matter how passionate you are about the serious issues in front of our most noble and knowledged leaders, I think most of us can agree on one thing, the end of the Iraq war is the best thing that could happen to our country. Why do I say this? Easy answer. Our family is coming home soon.

OUR FAMILY!!! Every military person who provides this freedom we enjoy and adore in this country deserves a standing ovation of unsurpassed appreciation for their sacrifice. I say let’s show them exactly how much love and adoration we have for them and bring our country together once and for all by giving the largest party the world has ever seen. Let’s dedicate one day to honoring their return by  having street parties and parades in every city in our country. This small idea comes from an average citizen who believes it can happen.

If people can get together to protest everything from abortion to global warming to the war to medical reform to unemployment, surely we can get something together to give a proper and warm reception to our military family that are coming home. I have a very strong feeling that practically everyone in this wonderful country of ours either knows someone, has lived near someone, grew up with someone, or is related to someone serving in our military.

Let me ask one question. Which member of our armed services, do you think, would not appreciate a nationwide celebration of their return? I know we have been supporting our troops with ribbons and badges, bumper stickers and flags, even matched our work uniforms to show our solidarity to one another. Now the time has come to really show our service men and women how much, as a united nation, we love and truly appreciated their sacrifice and service for us.

Your comments or feedback are needed. If you believe in anything similar to the concepts previously mentioned, feel free to join me in this crusade to bring some sense of peaceful unity to our country in these trying and often painful times. I think we could use a break.

  1. Super idea! I agree, the country needs a powerful and meaningful idea to bring us all together! The young men and women who have put themselves in harm’s way to protect our way of life need to know that we appreciate them and all the sacrifices they and their families have made. Let’s make them proud!!

  2. Your idea is absolutely fabulous. We can’t do enough for our soldiers during the last part of their service in Iraq and for when they finally come home. It’s amazing how little they have over there and are thrilled to receive anything like deodorant, soaps, razors, goodies – but even a card sent through an organization like “Any Soldier” lets our soldiers know that we appreciate their service. They are not forgotten and we can never thank them enough.

A really big party nationwide in honor of our soldiers’ return is the LEAST we can do!

  3. Thank you for your feedback. It is very encouraging to hear I am not the only one who feels this way. Perhaps we can continue this correspondence as this project begins to take shape. Any future suggestions will be appreciated. The task appears quite daunting, but with help, it will happen. Thanks again!

  4. Wow, quite refreshing to hear positivity reverberate throughout your post and your person. What a most excellent idea, very encouraging and uplifting just what the nation leads. You have my full support and backing and will immediately post on all web, social networks, emails within my network and ask that supporters and friends do the same.

Congratulations, on the movement that could bring the nation together harmonized and as one.

    Rico
